<< Recoil Mass Separator >>
BB line
Research purpose : Equipment for the measurements of recoiling nuclei produced by heavy ion reaction.
Specification : The equipment consists of QQEMEQQO combination, where Q means a quadrupole magnet, E a dipole electric field, M a dipole magnetic field and O a octupole magnetic field. Deflection angle is 25_50_25 degrees.
The distance between electrode is 12cm.The pole gap of the magnets is 12cm.
Horizontal magnification is 1.66, and vertical one 1.17.
Rotation angle, -5~40 °. Totallength, 9.4m. Mass resolution, 300 and mass acceptance, ±4%. Energy acceptance, ±12%. Solid angle, 20msr.
For the reduction of background due to scattered ion beams, the positive electrode in the first electric field is separated vertically by the amount of 10mm in the up and down direction from the center to avoid the beam hitting.
